A PAUL Burns first-half double put Queens on the road to their seventh successive win and strengthened their position in the top four in the First Division. They got the opener in nine minutes when Sean O'Connor created an opening for Paul Burns, wh
o darted in from the right and drilled a fiercely-struck angled shot past goalkeeper Myles Hogarth.
Gordon Chisholm's side conceded only their fourth goal at home in six games since Christmas when Albion levelled in 17 minutes after an uncharacteristic howler in defence by Jim Thomson. David McKenna pounced on the veteran skipper's failure to clear, squared the ball to the unmarked Chris Aitken, who raced through from midfield and slid a first-time shot low past goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald, who was left woefully exposed.
But four minutes before the break Burns restored Queens' lead, albeit in fortunate circumstances. Stevie Tosh chipped the ball over from the left which Burns headed against team-mate Ryan McCann's back. The rebound fell perfectly for him and he lashed the ball high into the net from 16 yards.
Right on the interval whistle, Hogarth produced a sensational save to turn Thomson's point-blank header over the bar from a corner.
Seven minutes after the restart, Hogarth was helpless as Thomson leapt at the back post to power a header from a Harris free-kick into the net for Queen's third and ensured the Doonhamers of a sixth successive home victory.
