SATURDAY made me feel much more confident about the season ahead. We kept it tight at the back, scored three, created many more chances (Liam Craig hold your head in shame for missing an open goal eight yards out) and looked streets ahead of a very, very poor Falkirk side.
We also heard this week that Murray Davidson and Jody Morris are on the Scotland radar, with Paul Hegarty running the rule over them at the weekend. Yet there is one serious impediment in their way to international stardom – they play for Saints. Traditionally, our best players during our last SPL foray – Callum Davidson, John O'Neil, Alan Main, Allan Preston – were not brought into the fold until they signed for a "bigger" club, or were overlooked entirely. A change in that stance would be a welcome boost for Saints.
