SCOTT Cuthbert believes a season-long loan move to St Mirren is perfect at this stage of his career.
The Celtic and Scotland Under-21 defender has joined the Paisley outfit for the whole campaign and is set to make his debut today against Kilmarnock.

He is confident the experience gained at Love Street will stand him in good stead for his return
to Celtic. Cuthbert recently agreed a two-year deal with the Scottish Premier League champions but knows his first-team chances will be limited at Celtic and did not hesitate to go out on loan.

He said: "I'm absolutely delighted with the move. I signed my new contract with Celtic a couple of days ago then was lucky enough to get this deal.

"The great thing about this move is it gives me a year in the SPL before I go back to prove I'm good enough for Celtic. If you're not in the manager's plans and are not going to play then going out on loan is the right thing to do, especially for me as I have not had a lot of first-team experience."

Cuthbert has been impressed by St Mirren manager Gus MacPherson's plans. He said: "I liked the way the manager talked and the way they played football. Also the way the likes of Stephen McGinn talked about the players, he said I'd get on with them fine and they're a great bunch of guys.

Cuthbert looks set to start today as Will Haining is suspended following his red card against Celtic.

good luck scott
i'm sure this guy will do well and develop further with this move.It makes sense and the fact he's signed a new celtic deal protects the clubs' long term investment.

no2+3,what a load of absolute garbage your comments are, only signed loovens to enrage gers ?

mmmm so did gers not really want him?

strachan says he's no better than caldwell and mcmanus?

no he said he'll have to prove he's better.

you've signed 3 players in 4 days ...

oh well the league is wrapped up..

how do you know if they are going to be any better than what you've got..which isn't that good.

think about it ,if st mirren were looking for centre half why not go for webster ,not a youth reserve celtic player.I wonder why?

Quality will count just like the last 3 seasons.Your comments show your lack of football knowledge.

hail hail

#4 St. Mirren porbably didn't go for Webster for a number of reasons. One being his salary and the other being the fact that he's more than likely going to go on loan to Motherwell !!

5 - Or more likely still that he can't run the length of himself without getting injured.
