ST MIRREN'S hat-trick hero Billy Mehmet, left, has sheepishly revealed how team-mate Jim Hamilton fooled him into thinking he was being subbed during their 7-0 Co-operative Insurance Cup win over Dumbarton.
Mehmet had grabbed his third goal when the board went up at the sideline with No9 on it. To the amusement of Saints fans, Mehmet shook hands with Hamilton and then headed off, only to stop when he realised it was a double substitution by the Sons.

"I was facing Jim Hamilton and he told me that I was going off. I shook his hand and turned round and then realised it was Dumbarton who were making the substitutions," said Mehmet.
