EAST Stirling received a timely boost ahead of next week's trip to face Rangers at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup with a convincing 4-1 win over Forfar.
Forfar took the lead through trialist striker Neil McCallum. But East Stirling fought back in the second half with goals from Andy Brand, Joe Savage, Craig Donaldson and Kevin McBride.

Manager Gordon Wylde said: "It is a relief to get the points
for a recent run of bad results was putting pressure on us. Now we can go to Ibrox and enjoy the day."

East Fife striker Paul Stewart showed his resilience as he drove his side nearer the Third Division title. Stewart had already missed three gilt-edged chances before he knocked in the decisive goal in their 2-1 win at Elgin.

Kevin Fotheringham's free-kick gave the Fifers the lead but Mark Smith drew Elgin level with a 25-yard drive.

Stenhousemuir manager John Coughlin was shocked by the defensive mistakes that saw his side held to a 3-3 draw by Albion Rovers.

Albion stormed ahead through Steve Ferguson, Alan Gilbride and Scott Dalziel, although Roddy Hunter and Jamie McKenzie, who had opened the scoring, levelled the game. Coughlin said: "I cannot believe we threw it away."

Montrose striker John Baird scored both goals in their 2-0 win at Stranraer.
