ANDY Murray has climbed back into the top ten tennis players in the world following the release of the latest rankings.
The Scot has moved up from 11th to ninth after reaching the quarter-finals at Wimbledon, his best performance in a grand slam. Murray had no ranking points to defend from this time last year, when he missed almost three months of the season with a wrist injury.

There was also good news for Murray's female counterpart, Anne Keothavong, whose first-round Wimbledon victory has seen her climb to a career- high 82nd in the world. Elena Baltacha has jumped 11 spots to 133rd in the world, becoming the new British No 2.

Rafael Nadal's win over Roger Federer in the men's final has seen him close the gap on the world No 1 to 545 points.

Next stop - the top 5!

Despite all the unwarranted criticism, Scotland's No1 is on the way to the very top!

Quarter finalist, and he did lose to the eventual champion.
Murray is supposed to be better in the hard court season too.
I'll tip him as an outside chance at flushing meadows.

Sorry to see those Scotch chappies took a beating at Wimbers.
But good to see the bonnie wee ENGLISH lass was a winner.
Come on the tennis!

#3, you mean that charming ENGLISH lass that was born in AUSTRALIA to AUSTRALIAN parents and spent her formative years in SINGAPORE? ;)
