Wimbledon blow for Baker

BRITISH representation in the men's singles at Wimbledon is likely to be reduced further after the news that the country's No 2, Jamie Baker, is recovering from a potentially life-threatening virus.
The Lawn Tennis Association has revealed the world No241, who played for Britain in the Davis Cup tie against Argentina in February, had been diagnosed with immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) while training in Florida.
The virus attacks clotting agents in the blood, raising the risk of suffering internal bleeding or a lethal haemorrhage. The LTA gave no time span for the 21-year-old Scot's recovery but said he had virtually no chance of being fit for Wimbledon.
Andy Murray has backed his countryman to make a full recovery. "I'm sure he'll manage to get through it. He's strong mentally and loves tennis enough to get himself back fit and healthy," he said.
