£8m for Brown would be a good bit of business as long as we bring in a replacement, and hopefully a centre half as well.

As for #1, a bit harsh judging him when he is half fit. Look at the games last year against Villareal where he dominated Senna, or the January game at Ibrox and the League Cup final where he dominated the entire Rangers midfield, maybe even playing for Scotland against Italy away where he was also outstanding. You can't question his ability or potential, although he does still misplace too many easy passes. He could be a world class defensive midfielder given time.

And a Brucie bonus for Hibs too, not that we need the money mind.

Its funny money they talk in the EPL. If Brown did go for 8mil, what is McGeady worth.

Over the two games was the only CFC player who showed he could play for a top EPL side.

Maybe the lad should look at the challenge of the EPL where he would be required to keep his game at a top level with the quality he would face weekly.

If he stays in the SPL he will stagnate and end up a player with unfulfilled talent and ambition.

I hope Celtic flog Brown and McGeady to be honest. Both can't cut it v the top guys.

I also hope we sell Hinkel, Donati and Naylor.

We need new and better players.

Brian, who do you want in the CL draw?

Rangers will have a chance if they draw;

Sevilla
Olympiakos
Apeol Nicosia

Damo do you ever try to have an intelligent response.

I was not slighting McGeady, just saying the lad has the potential to be a very, very good player and testing himself against the best players in the best league in the world would only help him excel as a player.

Do you think staying in the SPL will help him improve?

Daillyman,

Not really bothered who we get to be honest, hopefully we can win a couple of home matches.

Does the 3rd place team in the CL group get the EC parachute?

If yes that should keep us in Europe after Xmas.

3rd place does parachute you into the EC.

I think you've got a chance if the draw is kind.

Hope you get a decent draw, expect a wee bit of leg-pulling along the way though.

I think McGeady has the ability to play at the top level. Over the 2 matches vs Arsenal he did not look out of place.

Never really troubled Arsenal though.

Not enough dynanism, power or accuracy in crossing or shooting.

If we can get 10m for him, I'd grab the cash.
12

Daillyman,

14

All players have a price. As Wenger showed selling 2 of his best to MnCity.

McGeady has the ability to be recognised as a top player if he were showing his talents weekly in the EPL.

Most top class players with ambition want to prove themselves vs the best.

If there was a £10 mill bid for Brown,I'd take it too.
Don't get me wrong,I think Brown is a fine player who can,on his day, take a game by the scruff and win it for his team.I just don't think he does it enough.

Rosscobhoy,

Don't let your bitterness get in the way. McGeady put in a decent shift in both games, and Boruc(last night at least) was back on top form. As for your comment regarding Villa, Fulham and Everton, i'd wait and see who you drawin the CL before starting on us. Celtic are nothing great, Rangers are just as bad(or worse given you've lost half your squad).
17

Rosscobhoy,

27/08/2009 16:22:52
Daillyman(&Billysboy if you want to answer it), what do you make of Murray standing down? I can't help but think he has tried to duck out before the going gets tough, a little like he did when McLelland took over a few years back. From a 'gers fans point of view how do you see it?
18

Rosscobhoy,

27/08/2009 16:29:56
#24

In defence of any h**s who suggest our players go to the EPL, i think there is an obvious reason why they would suggest it.

And it's not in the hope that he plays better for Ireland in a few years time.
19

Rosscobhoy,

27/08/2009 16:45:29
Damo, on #27 it may be due to the fact that none of the players are good enough. Mendes was a journeyman down there, and Davis was average as well. The only assets they have are Bougherra and McGregor, and the 2 of them are far from good enough at present. Bougherra again had a shocker on Sunday but the press still reported him as solid.
20

Rosscobhoy,

27/08/2009 16:50:52
#29 I'm far from jealous when it comes to Murray. The guy is nothing but an egomaniac as far as i can see and has again ducked out when its going to get tough, thats just how i see it. With regards to the levels of debt, again i couldn't care less but it must have worried you a little when the man himself said bad things could happen if Boyd is not sold(as he did in January).

Mendes has a lot of ability and good shot on him, but he tends to disappear for large periods of time(i'm talking 3 or 4 games, not 60 minutes). If he is the best player Rangers have then you should be worried.
21

Rosscobhoy,

27/08/2009 17:49:08

Arguably the easiest group you could have drawn.

Romanian champions, managed by Dan Petrescu, who's big name summer signing target plays for Greenock Morton.....
23

Honest Timothy Malloy esq,

27/08/2009 17:56:01
Well Rangers could hardly have got an easier draw.

Pity they missed out on any glamour games - I don't see many sell outs at Ibrox for the home ties.

Still they have chance to get through and maybe face a big gun.

24

Honest Timothy Malloy esq,

27/08/2009 17:57:49
Rangers only concern will be there travelling support.

Romania might be a place where there intimidating fans could be subject to heavy handed policing. And in Spain Rangers fans are as welcome as a faart in a spacesuit.

25

Honest Timothy Malloy esq,

27/08/2009 17:59:49
If Celtic get say Everton, Valencia and Ajax I can see our Europa Cup foray being a much more attractive fixture list.

26

Honest Timothy Malloy esq,

27/08/2009 18:01:35
47

Not sure they'll be easy to sell.

Recession and every game on tv might mean a half empty stadium.

Not being funny, but do you know one single player in the Sevilla, Stuggart or Unirea Urziceni line ups?
27

Honest Timothy Malloy esq,

27/08/2009 18:06:26
Rangers only worry must be the lack of quality in their own squad.

Without being funny, can Rangers really expect the likes of Novo, Miller and Lafferty to strike fear into the opposition?

Then of course the likes of Stuggart and Sevilla will be delighted to be facing old slow guys like Weir and McCulloch and sub standards like Broadfoot and Whittaker.

Rangers lack of quality might just cost them a place in the last 16.
28

Honest Timothy Malloy esq,

27/08/2009 18:10:48
Fabiano is not bad, I've seen a bit of him.

Hitzelsperger I've heard of but can't recall seeing him play.

Kanoute I've heard of and seen play.

However I wouldn't cross the road to see any of them play football never mind pay £100 or so.

Half empty Ibrox me thinks.

29

Honest Timothy Malloy esq,

27/08/2009 18:13:26
Rangers might struggle to win an away game in this group and at home they might find Sevilla a toughie.

You'd expect Rangers to overcome the romanians and Stuggart at Ibrox.
30

Honest Timothy Malloy esq,

27/08/2009 18:15:09
I expect Rangers to finish 2nd in this group with 9 points.

2 home wins
1 home draw to Sevilla
2 draws away
1 away defeat to Sevilla

31

Honest Timothy Malloy esq,

27/08/2009 18:16:07
Rangers group looks more like a Europa Cup group than a Champions League group.

32

Honest Timothy Malloy esq,

Aye Hleb is no bad, I wouldn't pay £100 to watch him though.
33

Honest Timothy Malloy esq,

Yeah and that's the point. I doubt your 40,000 season ticket holders will cough up to watch sub standard European sides. They'll want to save their cash for a big game in the knock outs or a run in the latter stages of the Europa.
34

Daillyman,

27/08/2009 22:10:57
Damo and Billyboy

Damo I dont understand why you are so hostile.

As for Billy boys if you watched the 2 Arsenal matches the only quality that the tic showed was McGeady.

I suppose as a Gers(Billyboy) supporter you dont expect an honest opinion regarding a player, I will give credit where it is due and the ROI internationalist was the only tic player who looked like he could compete.

And Dano you still dd not answer the Wenger question, regarding selling players, he did sell 2 of his best to an EPL rivel, no comment as usual

ps the golf game was great today, I shot an 87
35

Daillyman,

27/08/2009 22:12:19
Good draw for the Gers in the CL, as long as WS does not play a 4-5-1 at Ibrox.
