RANGERS will face either Danish club Aalborg or Bosnians Modrica in the Champions League third qualifying round later this month – if they get past FBK Kaunas on Tuesday night.
The Lithuanian club, in which Hearts chief Vladimir Romanov has a controlling interest, have home advantage for the second qualifying round second leg after a 0-0 draw at Ibrox on Wednesday.

Former Arsenal boss Bruce Rioch is currently in charg
e of Aalborg, the 2008 Danish SuperLiga champions.

Assuming their 5-0 first-leg lead over Modrica after the first leg is enough to progress, former Scotland captain Rioch could well face a trip to Ibrox.

Arsenal will face former England boss Steve McClaren's FC Twente.

McClaren took the reins at the Dutch side earlier this summer and the Eredivisie outfit will make their Champions League debut after beating Ajax in a play-off last season.

Liverpool were paired with Belgian former European powerhouse Standard Liege in today's draw and the ties will be played on August 12/13 or August 26/27.

Irish champions Drogheda will take on Spartak Moscow if they reverse a 2-1 first-leg deficit against Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kiev.

The British clubs involved in the draw managed to avoid Spain's Atletico Madrid, the strongest of the unseeded teams, as they were paired with German outfit Schalke.

UEFA Champions League third qualifying round:
Anorthosis Famagusta or Rapid Vienna v Olympiacos; Guimaraes v IFK Goteborg or Basel; Shakhtar Donetsk v Domzale or Dinamo Zagreb; Schalke 04 v Atletico Madrid; AaB or Modrica v Rangers or Kaunas; Barcelona v Beitar Jerusalem or Wisla Krakow; Levski Sofia v Anderlecht or BATE; Standard Liege v Liverpool; FC Inter or Partizan Belgrade v Fenerbahce or MTK Budapest; FC Twente v Arsenal; Spartak Moscow v Drogheda United or Dynamo Kiev; Juventus v Tampere United or Artmedia Petrzalka; Brann or Ventspils v Marseille; Fiorentina v Slavia Prague; Galatasaray v Steaua Bucuresti; Panathinaikos or Dinamo Tbilisi v Sheriff Tiraspol or Sparta Prague.

Ties to be played over two legs on Aug 12/13 & 26/27

Do you ever post a comment about the tic?

Every thread that is open on a daily basis (and there are fewer these days) you just seem to post about the Gers.

Tell the truth you're a closet bluenose.

* BREAKING NEWS *

Word is on the street that Minty thought he'd finally found a buyer for Rearrangerz recently, to wit a consortium of three Scottish business persons, one connected with the sports gear trade , a second connected with a bus company and a.n. another.

A team of crack accountants were engaged and subject to a confidentiality clause as long as a novel were given unrestricted access to the whole financial picture of Rearrangerz.

Result ? Apparently absolute horror , and the deal is dead in the water.

Minty has them by the short and curlies not to breath a word , but the story is that there are a few scottish editors aware of it and thus far have resolved to keep the story under wraps.

Thanks must be given to the tic supporters for keeping us informed about the financial goings on at Ibrox.

I just hope its not the same source who informed about Deco, Bent, Palyachenko, Leto, McFadden, Maloney etc, signing with the tic this off season.

You forgot to mention Robbie Kean.

Remember how we were constantly informed that he was on Celtics "radar".

Theres more chance of Dominic Kean coming back to Celtic.

Mind you, hes probably got a few millstashed away.

Celtic need all the help they can get.

Charleton bought the player for 2.5mil, reportedly that's what the Gers paid for him.

As for being off loaded at a loss who are we to argue with tic rhetoric.

1v0 to spurs.

Haven't seen the pictures but described as a horror pass from Hartley...completely unforced error by all accounts.
