Cycling: Hoy gears up for Beijing with win over rivals

CHRIS Hoy concluded his pre-Olympic racing schedule with a comfortable win at the Erfurt Grand Prix in Germany over a field that included several of his Beijing rivals.
The 32-year-old Scot recorded a new track record in qualifying phase and ousted the Australian Mark French in the semi-final to set up a clash with the German Max Levy. Hoy had too much power for his opponent, easing to a 2-0 victory in the best-of-three final.
