FIFE duo Gordon Shedden and Jonathan Adam head home to Knockhill for the latest British Touring Car Championship meeting this weekend determined to continue their winning form from the last round at Oulton Park.
Shedden, the 29-year-old from Dalgety Bay, brought an end to his miserable run of fortune when he led from start to finish in the final race at the Cheshire circuit and now the Team Halfords leader is desperate to win again in front of his home supp
orters. "There's no denying Lady Luck hasn't been shining on us this season," said Shedden, who was denied a double victory at Thruxton when punctures in successive races forced his Honda Civic into retirement.
"If I'd won those two races I'd have leapt to second in the championship. Instead the two punctures basically wrecked our season, certainly as far was winning the title was concerned.
"But you've no idea how big a boost the win at Oulton has given the team. I'm not saying the boys were losing interest, but you could see the sparkle had gone. After the win, everybody's bouncing."
Adam meanwhile, is determined to take another significant step towards retaining the Seat Cupra Championship he dominated last year. First though the 23-year-old from Kirkcaldy bids to close the gap on championship leader Robert Lawson by winning both races.
Adam has won six of the eight races, including both races at Oulton Park last time out, and heads to Knockhill just 22 points behind Lawson with three rounds and six races remaining.
"This weekend's hugely important," he said. "We started the season slowly because we only got the car four days before the opening round at Brands Hatch.
"We never really got the car sorted until we had a test at Rockingham. After that we went to Thruxton and won both races, but by them we were already playing catch-up. We've got the momentum behind us now and we certainly have no intention of backing off at Knockhill."
