MOTHERWELL manager Mark McGhee has urged his players to seize a chance to secure a European spot this weekend.
Victory over Aberdeen – coupled with defeats for Dundee United and Hibs against the Old Firm – would seal third place in the SPL for the Steelmen. Motherwell have slashed all admission prices to £5 in an attempt to get the Lanarkshire public out in
support.

Aberdeen are also likely to bring a large travelling support after victories over Hibs and United brought them back into the hunt.

The Dons, who only scraped into the top six with a late win over Falkirk, would move level on points with Motherwell if they win at Fir Park.

"Saturday is an opportunity for us," McGhee said. "I expect Dundee United and Hibs could be beaten at the weekend and if were to beat Aberdeen it would see us secure that third spot. For us it's a massive game because Aberdeen have brought themselves back in contention.

"So to get as many people here to give us an edge will be great. It will be a great opportunity for us to achieve that.

"We are in pole position, we have to live with that and handle the pressure."

Aberdeen could be strengthened by the return of striker Darren Mackie, on-loan Birmingham winger Sone Aluko and full-backs Lee Mair and Alan Maybury.

However, central defender Zander Diamond is still suspended.
