Threat to OAP rail discounts
CONCESSIONARY rail travel for pensioners and disabled people in West Lothian is under review.
Rail fares to Edinburgh are currently subsidised, costing the local authority £110,000 a year.
Over 139,000 trips were made last year. But the ruling SNP administration has suggested the subsidy could end as part of a £4.4 million package of savings.
Users can travel to Edinburgh for £1 return with trips to Glasgow charged at half-rate.
Council leader Peter Johnston said: "We are going to have wide consultation on it before any decision is reached."
